Culture in Strategic Communication

Culture programs our thinking and contextualizes human communication. No organization can afford to overlook the role of culture when designing and executing strategic messages. This talk introduces culture as a value framework and discusses its application in analyzing cases of public diplomacy, crisis communication, and social media influencer endorsements.

LIN ZHU is Visiting Scholar in the Department of Communication Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University (2021-2022). She is Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Her research interest is in intercultural communication, negotiation and conflict management, leadership, and social media.
